Mrs. Barbara Lamb
Administrator

Our new Administrator is Barbara Lamb. She will be onboard October 1st.  Barbara is looking forward to joining our school. She feels that two important things a Montessori teacher can do is to help the child grow into an independent learner and develop a life-long love of learning.

Barbara’s academic preparation includes a Master's degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Toronto, and AMS teacher's Certification for Elementary I and II. She has also recently completed an AMS Course for Leading Schools'. Her experiences include Montessori administration and teaching, clinical and research psychology, consulting and Case Management. The settings were quite diverse – hospitals, mental health clinics, school and school boards, as well as community service agencies.

A highlight of Barbara’s career came in the fall of 2004, when she was an invited member of a Montessori delegation to Moscow and St. Petersburg to consult with the fledgling Montessori program recently begun in Russia.

Barbara brings to QCMS excellent preparation, energy, vision, wisdom, and devotion to the Montessori philosophy. Eventually, she would like to meet all of the parents and other members of the QCMS community. Please make her welcome!

Kylee Mattiolli has joined our staff as the front office person and is doing a great job. Most of you know Kylee as she has been our school's Art teacher since October, 2007. Kylee has worked tirelessly in other projects for the school: Christmas note cards with the children and Art From The Heart (AFTH). The children's photography from the AFTH is still available for purchase at the front desk.

Kylee will greet early arrivals at 8:00 a.m. and be present until 1-2, afternoons. She has also agreed to continue doing the Art Classes for the children; they love her.  Please join with me in welcoming her officially as a new staff.

"And gradually we educators are confronted with a simple but important fact: that to help the child is not what he needs, and indeed that to give help is an impediment for the child. Therefore he must be allowed to act freely on his own initiative in this free environment."
