QCMS Development

We thank you in advance for philanthropic consideration of the Quad City Montessori School. At QCMS, we are committed to empowering students with a strong academic foundation.

Dear Friends,

The Quad City Montessori School is a non-profit organization and is funded solely through tuition and private contributions.  Like most independent schools, we rely on the generosity of the entire school community - parents, past parents, grandparents, staff, and friends of the school - to support its quality educational program and facilities, and to provide financial aid to students in need. This section of our website details the many giving opportunities available. Over the years, we have been fortunate that so many of you have continued to support our wonderful school. There are countless ways in which your gifts will enable our school to flourish and grow, and on behalf of the school, and most of all, the children, I thank you for your continuing generosity.

Regards,

President, Board of Directors

Introduction to Development Efforts at QCMS

The Quad City Montessori School is a non-profit organization.  We are always seeking alternative, non-tuition based forms of funding, and are always grateful for contributions of time and money. The school hosts special events, applies for grants, and conducts a variety of other fundraisers throughout the year, from the Art from the Heart Gala (our largest fund drive each year), Annual Fund, to the PTU sponsored Winter Fair and Book Fairs, to student-run classroom fundraisers that help defer the cost of field trips.  Communications, community building and fundraising are all important components of our school's development efforts.  Anyone interested in being a part of the development of the school, should contact the Director of Development who can be reached at development@qcms.org

Community Service

We believe that it is vital for our students to understand the needs of others and their responsibility in contributing to the greater good of society; therefore we encourage their participation in community service projects. Periodically, our students will raise funds or collect items to donate to local causes.  In the past, such efforts have supported victims of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka and other groups.

School Community Events

QCMS also participates in a Scrip.  Scrip is a term that means "substitute money".  When our parents and friends of QCMS purchase scrip, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash.  The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of our QCMS families and friends already shop.  These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores.  Our QCMS families and friends can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for Quad City Montessori School.

Every school year, we host a special event that, in addition to building school community, assists in providing additional monies in support of special projects and the operating budget.  In the past, QCMS has sponsored auctions and an "Art from the Heart" dinner event. Please watch for this year's special event fundraiser in February 2008.

Endowment

The Quad City Montessori School has established our first endowment in cooperation with the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. An endowment is important to the school because it provides a strong long term financial plan so that the interest can be used as operating income which in turn, can support the school's budget and eventually help manage tuition increases. The Community Foundation maintains endowment funds for local not-for-profits at no cost to the entity. To learn more about how you can participate go to http://www.cfgrb.org/

In-Kind Donations

The Quad City Montessori School will accept in-kind donations all during the year.  Commonly donated items include gently used computers, classroom materials and supplies, and professional expertise.

Naming and Sponsoring

Donors who wish to inquire about available naming opportunities or sponsorships for enrichment activities should contact the Administrator.

Ways and Means

The Quad City Montessori School is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization and all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.  Gifts of cash or stocks are welcome, and we will be glad to discuss extended payment options with you.  Please forward Matching Gift paperwork from your employer the Director of Development and we'll do the rest!
