As a parent-owned, not-for-profit facility, QCMS cannot continue to thrive without the support and involvement of our families. There are many ways for parents to help.
You can volunteer to be a room parent for your child’s classroom. You can help the class with special projects or by providing refreshments for special occasions. Parents are needed to drive for field trips, to serve as substitute assistants, or to help with weekly tasks such as doing the class laundry. Your participation in fundraising activities provides “extras” for your children that we might otherwise not be able to afford. By coming to special parties and events, you can get to know the other parents at our school. Parent education classes, meetings, and conferences are important to aid in your understanding of the benefits of Montessori instruction. We are always looking for parents to chair committees or serve on the Board of Directors.
If parents are not always available to help, we are very happy to have grandparents or aunts and uncles to help in their place.
Parents are most welcome and are encouraged to visit classes. These visits are of great benefit in helping you understand the work that your child enjoys in the classroom. To make your visit more informative, ask your child’s teacher about when is a good time to visit. Parents have unlimited access to their children except when prohibited by court order or matters of legal custody.
